The Sonoma Bakery in Woollahra is the third establishment designed by U+I Building Studio, maintaining the brand’s aesthetic continuity with its predecessors. The design language speaks of consistency, featuring a colour palette that aligns with the existing Sonoma café fit-outs.
The interior is imbued with natural, dark, and warm hues, providing a backdrop that both contrasts and complements the artisanal breads. Brushed copper elements set against a black canvas serve to highlight and harmonise with the bread's rich colours and textures.
Spatial verticality is exploited to its full potential, with the height of the space accentuated by a curved corrugated ceiling that incorporates skylights, inviting an influx of natural light to animate the bakery's interior.
Outside, a retractable awning ensures the courtyard is a versatile space, welcoming patrons in all weather conditions. The courtyard is framed with planter boxes, which not only introduce greenery but also create an intimate enclave, offering seclusion from the adjacent footpath. This thoughtful design element fortifies the bakery's charm and adds to the customer’s experience of a serene urban retreat.
