Our challenge was to transform an old warehouse into a creative workplace environment for our clients. The brief was to design a contemporary, elegant and luxurious interior fit-out to accommodate various office spaces, creative studios, meeting rooms and showrooms. An existing plasterboard ceiling was demolished to reveal original steel trusses and rough sawn timber cladding. This created an inspiring base building, which required a sensitive approach to the architecture and careful consideration for the space planning of the interior design.
We maintained the exposed steel structure and timber cladding. This created high ceilings and a bright workspace for the staff. The newly exposed clerestory windows illuminated the open plan workplace with natural light. The multi functional design accommodates the showroom, boardroom and a large bar area - a showcase centrepiece for staff, clients and visitors. On the second level an additional open plan workspace and creative studio is lined with steel framed windows revealing the treetops around the building. This connection transcends the boundaries between inside and out. Upon entry to the reception foyer, a large white Carrara marble counter front screens the desk creating a very minimalist and luxurious feel to the space.
A mix of contemporary open plan and glazed closed office spaces allows for flexibility and privacy in the workspace, while encouraging visual connections. The Max Media Lab headquarters has been built with much respect to the old structure, whilst harmoniously enhancing the creative and opulent interior design throughout the built environment.
