The Fed Sheds is a series of multipurpose sheds, built around a courtyard comprising of common areas with shady verandahs and plantings, in keeping with the village vernacular and native sub-tropical vegetation.
Presenting a façade to the street which will be complementary to the existing houses, shops and sheds on Federal Drive as well as the Church and Community Centre opposite. We reference the barns, sheds, stables and factory buildings of the turn of the last century. The Fed Sheds will be built with the same functional values that drove the design and construction of these buildings which have stood the test of time. Built by artisans and built to last.
Beautiful century old timbers, collected over the last twenty years, salvaged from shearers sheds, timber bridges, warehouses and boatsheds around Australia are intended for the build. In combination with our own hand forged door and window hardware we hope to create an asset that services and enhances the Federal Community.
The spaces are designed to be as flexible as possible for a range of uses,
allowing for the capacity to respond and adapt to the community's needs as necessary. The aim is to complement the existing buildings and businesses of Federal and we see this as an opportunity to enhance local employment and amenity.
